Freddie Lonsdale (Playwright)
(born Lionel Frederick) was of humble origins and worked in many occupations (including working his passage to Canada as a ship's steward) He was a very successful playwright in his day and his plays were produced in London and New York. However his plays were the 'upper class drawing room type' and did not endure. He also did a few film scripts in the 30s but nothing memorable. Moved to the U S in 1938 but returned to England and France in the 50s. He is remembered as a charming and witty conversationalist.
